Dr Carly Meyer
Senior Research Fellow
Carly has a PhD in Speech Pathology from the University of Queensland (2009) and has held Research Fellow positions in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at The University of Queensland (2009-2019, 2022-2024) and in the NIHR Policy Research Unit in Behavioural Science at University College London (2019-2022).
Carly is a mixed-methods researcher with 15 years of research experience in the areas of hearing rehabilitation (including people living with dementia), patient- and family-centred care, telehealth, and the behavioural and implementation sciences. Carly’s research has sought to examine hearing help-seeking and identify and address the psychosocial and psychological impacts of hearing impairment for people with hearing loss and their families. She has also used and developed telehealth solutions (e.g., web-based portals) to complement traditional services and address unmet need. Her research has involved collaborations with policymakers, clinicians, charitable organisations, research institutions, and consumer groups, nationally and internationally.
Carly has published extensively including 90+ peer-reviewed journal articles, 1 book, and 7 book chapters, and she enjoys supervising research higher degree students.
